Frogs are hostile wildlife that were added to the game during the Frog Invasion update on August 22, 2025. While they may look harmless due to their small size, they can quickly overwhelm players through poison effects, chain spawns, and wave-based encounters. This guide will help you deal with the frogs in the 99 Nights in the Forest game.
Frogs will not appear in every run, similar to Aliens. However, when they spawn, you will receive a notification on the screen indicating that something has emerged. They mostly spawn near ponds and lakes and appear for 10 minutes. They will use poison attack and will populate nearly every water source in the forest, turning previously safe areas into danger zones.
Frog Types (By Strength)
There are four frog variants, listed from weakest to strongest:
- Green Frog β Weakest variant
- Blue Frog β Moderate threat
- Purple Frog β High threat
- Frog King / Orange Frog β Strongest variant
Each higher-tier frog has more health, damage, and combat pressure than the previous type. When you kill a frog, it will split into two frogs. For example, if you kill a Frog Kig or an Orange Frog, it will split into two Purple Frogs.
- Killing a Purple Frog spawns 2 Blue Frogs
- Killing a Blue Frog spawns 2 Green Frogs
Green Frogs do not split; they drop loot like Morsel. Green Frog usually drops 1 Morsel, while others offer a chance to drop a Frog Key. You can also obtain this key through fishing. There are a total of 8 Frog Keys, which unlock access to the Frog Cave.
What is in Frog Cave?
- Features multiple waves of frogs
- Functions similarly to the Mothership event
- Waves increase in difficulty over time
- Upon completion, players can open a Frog Chest
The Frog Cave is one of the most intense frog-related challenges and should only be attempted with preparation.
How to fight Frogs?
Never fight Frogs near water, as they can respawn. If a group of frogs attacks you, try to take down the weaker ones first. This reduces the chain pressure. Always carry healing items with you to counter poison damage. You can lure the frogs to an open area away from ponds for better visibility. In Frog Cave, focus on fire and control space. Do not rush to kill frogs all at once; take down the weaker one first and then charge on the stronger ones. Below are weapons suggestions to fight with the Frogs.
- Best All-Round Weapon – Rifle.
- Top Tier Weapon – Laser Cannon.
- High-Burst High Damage – Shotgun.
A rifle is considered the best weapon to deal with frogs. You can kill them from a safe distance, and it works best against Purple Frogs and Frog Kings. While Laser Cannon can cause serious damage, which work best against waves.
How to Tame Frogs?
Frogs are tameable. You will need an old taming flute and a Mackerel fish for the same. Frogs usually attack when you are in sight. But here is a catch: hold the flute in the hand and walk near the Frog. Complete the mini game and feed the Frog mackerel when prompted. Frogs are not really strong allies compared to a Bear or a Alpha Wolf. But still, they are easy to tame. You can tame multiple frogs, and the group follows you in a fight.
- Old Taming Flute
- 2Γ Mackerel
