Bunnies are one of the earliest passive fauna you’ll encounter in 99 Nights in the Forest. They provide essential early-game resources and can be tamed as cosmetic companions. While not combat partners, interacting with bunnies smartly can boost survival progression.

Bunnies wander until a player enters their detection radius or damages them. If wandering too far from their spawn, they teleport back with a puff of smoke. If killed, bunnies can respawn after one in-game day. Once hit (even by a tame animal), bunnies will flee until you exit their detection radius or you die.

Taming doesn’t grant combat ability but gives you a cute companion. You will need a Old Flute for this. The bunny must not have taken damage before taming. This process can be performed once per bunny. Upgrading your Taming Flute over time allows taming more powerful animals, but bunnies only require the basic flute.

Farming Bunnies for Resources

Bunnies are a useful early resource source if harvested efficiently. They will drop 1-2 Morsels, which can be cooked in the campfire and consumed. It restores health at a low level. At the start of the game, hunt down around 6-10 bunnies to get Bunny Foot. You can trade this with the Pelt Trader for stronger tools like Good Sack, Good Axe, etc. Here are some efficient hunting tricks.

  1. Place traps next to burrows. When new bunnies spawn, they die instantly and drop 3 morsels and trigger the rare drop chance.
  2. Due to their small size and twitchy movement, melee weapons (like the spear) are more reliable than ranged weapons for consistent hits.
  3. Firing from far can sometimes prevent bunnies from fleeing, but this requires a steady aim or ammo-infinite weapons (e.g., Raygun/Laser Cannon).
  4. If fuel is scarce and you have a Biofuel Processor, bunny feet yield 2 fuel points.

Check bunny burrows daily. Respawn happens after a full day if you need more bunny resources. Bunnies have no attack mechanics; focus remains on survival while gathering them. Target bunny burrows for placement of traps or quick resource runs during daytime exploration.
